For a lot of 2009 the BlackPing project was in hibernation. This caused a lot of frustration for our users for which I'm very sorry. Thankfully the end of 2009 has granted us some time to work on BlackPing and a new version will be coming sometime in the first quarter of 2010.

Ping Fire version 1.0.2 was released a little over a week ago and work has already begun on version 1.0.3. The next version will include a lot of the features that have been posted to Get Satisfaction and emailed to us. If you're an add-on developer you already know that the XPI format used by Firefox is simply a ZIP file with a different extension. While developing you probably get sick of creating an archive (or zip file), changing the extension to XPI and then double-clicking the file to load the extension into Firefox. In and of itself, it does not take too long to do this, seconds at most. But, while in the fury of development, this "few seconds" adds up.
